School Graduation & Extended Care Reminder

There will not be any class or extended care on this Thursday, May 12^th.  For students not graduating, cost for the week will be $24.  For students graduating it will be $36.

 

Graduation will be this Thursday, May 12^th at 6:30 p.m.  All the graduates need to be here at 6:15 to get ready.  Graduation will begin at 6:30 for parents, relatives, and friends.  It will be here at the preschool.  Graduation is only for the kids who will be attending kindergarten next year.  The children will be wearing caps and gowns.  Girls—please do not wear ponytails or anything on top of your head. 

 

We decided to have graduation outside this year, since it’s not supposed to rain and we have so many graduating.

We will be learning about some Bible stories on some Thursdays from 9:00 to 1:00.  We will share more information later.

 

Rena will be tutoring children this summer.  This is for children going into kindergarten through Algebra.  If you are interested, please let us know.  We are trying to finalize that schedule.

 

If you have a child or know of someone who might be interested in school for next year, they need to let us know soon.  Registration is $100 and is due by July 1^st.  Tuition will be $39 per week next school year.

Open for E-Learning Day Friday

Valentine's Day Party Reminder

Next Thursday, February 10^th, we will have a Valentine’s Day Party and Valentine Day Card Exchange.  We will be making Valentine’s Delivery Trucks for our valentine cards.  Please do not put any other children’s names on the card’s outside or envelopes.  Each child sends one to everyone in the class, but they just sign their own names on the back of the cards.  There are currently 14 in the class.  The cards should be brought February 8^th and 9^th.

We will begin going through the alphabet again.  This time we will work on objects beginning with each letter, color pictures, and write the letters.
 
This month we are also working on a unit called “All About Me”; positions; writing their names; and learning to tie their shoes, addresses, phone numbers, and birthdays.

Christmas Party and Christmas Vacation Reminders

This Thursday, December 16^th, we will have our Christmas Party and Gift Exchange.  If you have not brought your gift for the gift exchange, bring it as soon as possible.  The gift should cost around $5.00.  The boys need to bring a boy’s gift and the girls need to bring a girl’s gift.  Will the following children’s mothers please send a special snack for the party:  Gracelyn Grogan, Lilah McCameron, and Barrett McDowell.  There are 15 in the class.

 

Our last day of school before Christmas Vacation is Thursday, December 16^th.  We will resume school on Tuesday, January 4^th.  The last day will we have extended care will be Friday, December 17^th.  We will resume extended care on Monday, January 3^rd.

Gift Exchange Gift Reminder

Just a reminder:  Please bring your gift for the Christmas Party gift exchange by this Thursday, December 9^th.  The gift should cost around $5.00.  The boys need to bring a boy’s gift and the girls need to bring a girl’s gift.  The party is next Thursday, December 16^th.

About Your Teachers

 

          Rohnda is married to Bob, who is a retired fisheries research biologist at the Avoca Fish Hatchery.  She has two daughters—Rena (see below) and Robyn.  Rohnda has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in elementary education with a minor in kindergarten.  She holds a master’s degree from Indiana University in elementary education with an emphasis in early childhood.  Rohnda began teaching third grade at Brownstown Elementary.  This is her 36^th year to have Sunshine School.  Rohnda and Rena attend Englewood Baptist Church.  Rohnda likes to collect magnets and owls and to read, read, read, and read when she can find the time.

 

          Rena graduated from Milligan College in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education.  This is her 22^nd year teaching.  She likes to collect keychains, to read, shop, and watch sports, particularly IU basketball and the Atlanta Braves.

Preschool class pictures will be Tuesday, September 21st, during school time.  Steve Sheldon will be coming down from Bloomington to take the pictures.  There will be both individual and class composite pictures taken.  Proofs will be e-mailed to parents later and pictures can be ordered then.  Money is not needed when the pictures are taken.
