Just a reminder that there will be no daycare next week, August 6th to 10th. We will be open again for daycare on August 13th like normal. School starts on August 14th and preschool starts on August 21st.
Also, do not send lunches for the kids this Friday, August 3rd. We will be providing a secret surprise lunch that day.

Good News Club Website
Here's a website to go with the Good News Club that the kids are doing this week and next: http://www.wonderzone.com/. Also, anyone can go to this Christian website for kids. The website has games, activities, devotionals, etc.

Summer Fun Days Starting
Just a reminder: Summer Fun Days start next Tuesday, June 12th. They are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 12:00. Check previous posts for more information.

Summer Reading Fun
The Summer Reading Program at Dollens will start on June 12th from 1:00 to 3:00. This is for any kids who finished kindergarten through 5th grade, whether they go to Dollens or not. We will be taking any kids that age over there every Tuesday, so that the kids can check out a couple of books. They can return them the next week with the chance to win a prize for reading books. If any kids won’t be here for daycare during that time and have books to return, please bring them back before Tuesday and we will return them for them. Also, you can take your kids to this yourself if your kids won’t be here.
Another option for summer reading is the Scholastic Summer Reading Buzz website (http://www.scholastic.com/summerreading/), which is for kids of all ages. We will make this available to the kids here. A sheet is available where kids can record books in as they read books or have books read to them here or at home. The kids can bring the sheet here with them and we can record them on the website. Once they sign up on the website, they can win prizes, find out about new books, chat with other kids about books, create book-related E-cards, keep a summer reading log, and more. Also, for every book kids read and record online, their literacy partners will donate a book to a kid in need. The books that they read for this can be from anywhere: home, here, the library, etc.
The last option is the summer reading program at the Bedford Public Library, which is also for kids of all ages. Books that they check out there and read can be used to win prizes there.

Beginning on June 12th we will have a unit on United States history from the 1820’s to 1850’s. This includes the Oregon Trail, Alamo, Gold Rush, and Pony Express. Besides learning a lot of information, we will also have games and craft projects. This will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 12:00. The cost will be $20 a week. Please let us know if you will be interested so we can plan materials. This is for children age 4 through 6th grade.

Note about Summer Daycare
For the summer, the kids will need to bring their own lunch. Please include drinks and any forks, spoons, or knives that they may need. Also, we won’t be microwaving any food this summer, as we will occasionally be going on picnics.
If your kids will not be here the same times that they usually are, we need to know the week before. Otherwise you will be charged for that time. This is if they will be missing part or all of a day(s). We need to have an idea of how many kids will be here each day.
Also, the kids need to make sure and eat breakfast before they get here in the morning. Lastly, the kids can’t bring any video games to play with here.

* Week of May 8th to 10th--Mother's Day, Strangers, and Fish Hatchery Field Trip
* Week of May 15th to 17th--Baseball, Memorial Day, End of Year/Summer, Graduation
Thank you for the delicious snacks you have been sending at the beginning of each month.
We will be practicing graduation songs this month.
On Thursday, May 10th, we will have a field trip to the Avoca State Fish Hatchery from 10:00 to 2:00. Everyone will need to bring a sack lunch and 2 cans of pop or juice. We again need parents to drive and help. Please let us know if you can help.
Graduation will be Thursday, May 17th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. All the graduates need to be here at 6:45 to get ready. Graduation will begin at 7:00 for parents, relatives, and friends. It will be here at the preschool. Graduation is only for the kids who will be attending kindergarten next year. The children will be wearing caps and gowns. Girls—please do not wear ponytails or anything on top of your head. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.
