Fish Hatchery Trip and Graduation Reminder Note

A couple of reminders:

On Tuesday, May 8th, we will have a picnic at the Avoca State Fish Hatchery from 10:00 to 2:00. Everyone will need to bring a sack lunch (no lunch boxes) and 2 cans of pop or juice. Please wear tennis shoes (no sandals). We again need parents to drive and help. Please let us know if you can help.

Graduation will be Thursday, May 15th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All the graduates need to be here at the preschool at 6:45 to get ready. Graduation will begin at 7:00 for parents, relatives, and friends. It will be here at the preschool. Graduation is only for those who will be attending kindergarten next year. The children will be wearing caps and gowns. Girls—please do not wear ponytails or anything on top of your head. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.

Week of April 22nd to 24th -- Dinosaurs--Brontosaurus and Allosaurus, Earth Day, Astronauts, Spring Mill trip April 24th from 10:00 to 2:00

Week of April 29th to May 1st -- Dinosaurs--Stegosaurus, Pteranodon, Triceratops, and Tyrannosaurus Rex

Week of May 6th to 8th -- Mother's Day, Fish Hatchery trip May 8th from 10:00 to 2:00

Week of May 13th to 15th -- Summer, Baseball, End of School, Last Day of School and Graduation May 15th

Beginning in June we will have a unit on the Civil War and Slavery. Besides learning a lot of information, we will also have games and craft projects. This will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 12:00. The cost will be $20 a week. Please let us know if you will be interested so we can plan materials. This is for children age 4 through 8th grade.

Rena will be tutoring children this summer. This is for children going into kindergarten through 8th grade. If you are interested, please let us know. We are trying to finalize that schedule.

Spring Mill Trip Reminder Notes

Thursday, April 24th, is our trip to Spring Mill from 10 to 2. Please let us know if you can drive and help us. Everyone needs to bring a sack lunch and 2 cans of pop or juice. We do not go to the souvenir stand. Please send lunches in a sack instead of a lunch box. That way we can just throw it away and not have to worry about keeping track of them. Also, please bring a jacket and don’t wear sandals that day. Thanks.

April 2008 Newsletter

NLCS Half Day April 11th.

A Couple of Reminders

The Easter Party will be on Thursday, March 20th. There are 24 people in the class. Will the following mothers please send a special snack for this: Daphney Sproles, Jalyn Staley, Ryley Swango, Ethan Todd, and Noah Wallbrown.

Also Spring Break is next week, March 25th, 26th, and 27th, and there will be no class.

We will also be closed for daycare for the entire week of March 24th.

We will be closed the entire week of March 25th. There will be no daycare.

We will be evaluating the students that will be entering kindergarten next year beginning February 26th.

Kindergarten screening at Dollens is Monday, March 10th. Please call the school (275-3885) to schedule an individual time for your child. For children that will be attending other schools, contact that school for screening dates and to schedule a time for your child. Birth certificates are required at screening.

school closed Feb. 22nd

North-Lawrence and Mitchell schools are closed tomorrow, Friday, February 22nd. We will be open for extended care normal hours for anyone who needs us.

There's a 2-hour delay for schools for tomorrow, Thursday, February 14th, so far.

We will have the school Valentine Party tomorrow as scheduled, so please bring valentines for the Valentine Exchange.

No School Wednesday

School is cancelled again for Wednesday, February 13th, because of the snow and ice. We are open for extended care, and all kids need to bring lunches.

There will be school for North-Lawrence schools next Monday, February 18th, which is Presidents Day.

Valentine's Day Reminder

Reminder: On Thursday, February 14th, we will be having a Valentine’s Day Party and Card Exchange. We will be making Valentine Delivery Trucks for our valentine cards. Please do not put names on the valentine envelopes. Each child sends one to everyone in the class, but they just sign their name on the back of the card and leave the envelope blank. There are 24 people in the class. These may be brought from the 12th to the 14th.

Reminder: Will the following children’s mothers please send a special snack for our Valentine Party: Evan Murphy, Max Nolan, Abigail Parker, Derrick Price, and Izabella Shew.

Kindergarten and Cleaning Note

If you are considering sending your child to kindergarten next year, please let us know. We will be evaluating those kids at the end of February. To attend kindergarten next school year, kids must be 5 years old by August 1st.

Also, we want to thank everyone for all of the offers to clean our house. The number of people who responded overwhelmed us.

School Kids' Note

Please send a box of 5-ounce cups and a package of napkins for the rest of the school year.

The day for kindergarten screening at Dollens is March 10th. If your child will be attending a different school, call that school for their date.

My cleaning lady is no longer able to clean because of health reasons. I am looking for someone to dust, vacuum, and clean bathrooms. What I have done before is have half the house done every week, which takes about 3½ hours. If you know of anyone who could do this please let me know.

Sunshine School January 2008 Newsletter

We will begin going through the alphabet again. This time we will work on objects beginning with that letter, color pictures, and write the letters.

Christmas Party Reminder

On Thursday, December 20th, we will have our Christmas Party and Gift Exchange. The gift should cost around $5.00. The boys need to bring a boy’s gift and the girl’s need to bring a girl’s gift. Snow Days School Note

If the North Lawrence schools are closed because of bad weather, our school is also closed.

If the North Lawrence schools have a two-hour delay, our class will be from 10:00 to 12:00.

If schools are closed, we will still be open for extended care for our usual hours of 6:30 to 5:30 if you need us.
