Thanksgiving Break Reminder

Just a reminder:  We will be open like normal next Monday and Tuesday, November 23^rd and 24^th.  However, we will be closed for preschool and daycare next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, November 25-27 for Thanksgiving Break.  Preschool will be $12 for the week.

Sunshine School November 2020 Newsletter

Week of November 3rd to 5th -- U & V Week, Unicorns, Vegetables, Begin Shapes Unit, Circles, and Thanksgiving

November 3rd--No School, Yes Daycare for Election Day

Week of November 10th to 12th -- W & X Week, Weather, X Marks the Spot, Squares and Triangles, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving

Week of November 17th to 19th -- Y & Z Week, Yaks, Zebras, Triangles and Rectangles, and Thanksgiving

Week of November 24th to 26th -- Thanksgiving

November 25th to 26th -- Thanksgiving Break -- No Preschool or Daycare

Thanksgiving Break—November 25^th & 26^th   

 Please remember to have your child bring something for Show and Tell on their assigned day.  This is important, as it is their first public speaking.

 

There will be no daycare November 25^th, 26^th, and 27^th.

 

On Thursday, December 17^th, we will have our Christmas Party and Gift Exchange.  The gift should cost around $5.00.  The boys need to bring a boy’s gift and the girls need to bring a girl’s gift.  Will the following children please bring a special treat for our party:  Jagger Dowdy, Gracelyn Grogan, Holten Harding, and Barrett McDowell.

No School, Yes Daycare Election Day

Next Tuesday, November 3^rd is Election Day.  There won’t be any school for North Lawrence Schools, and our school will be cancelled too.  However, we will be open for daycare regular hours that day, 6:30 to 5:30.  Kids need to bring their lunch with a drink and a blanket and pillow if they don’t have one here.

October 2020 Newsletter

Week of October 6th to 8th:  O & P Week, Owls, Pumpkins, Popcorn, Restaurants, Cut Waves Week, and Fall

Fall Break – October 13^th to 15^th – Closed

Week of October 20th to 22nd:  Q & R Week, Quilts, Raccoons, Cut Zigzags Week, Christopher Columbus, and Safety

Week of October 27th to 29th:  S & T Week, Scarecrows, Squirrels, Turtles, Cutting Review Week, Safety, and Fall

October 29th:  Harvest Party

 

In our safety unit we are presenting dangers and what to do or how to avoid them.  We want the children to be aware.  If you have any questions, please let us know.

 

We will be closed for Fall Break for preschool from October 13^th to 15^th.  We will also be closed for daycare from October 12^th to 16^th.

 

On Thursday, October 29^th, we will be having our Harvest Party, instead of a Halloween Party.  The children need to come to class dressed as something related to farming or autumn (or something else not scary).  Will the following children please bring a special treat for our party:  Bentley and Paisley Brooking, Felix Chaillaux, and Liam Chenault.  We divide the class up to have some kids bringing snacks to each party.

About Your Teachers

          Rohnda is married to Bob, who is a retired fisheries research biologist at the Avoca Fish Hatchery.  She has two daughters—Rena (see below) and Robyn.  Rohnda has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in elementary education with a minor in kindergarten.  She holds a master’s degree from Indiana University in elementary education with an emphasis in early childhood.  Rohnda began teaching third grade at Brownstown Elementary.  This is her 35^th year to have Sunshine School.  Rohnda and Rena attends Englewood Baptist Church.  Rohnda likes to collect magnets and owls and to read, read, read, and read when she can find the time.

          Rena graduated from Milligan College in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education.  This is her 21^st year teaching.  She likes to coupon, read, shop, and watch sports, particularly IU, the Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and Chicago Cubs.
