February 2018 Newsletter

Week of February 6th to 8th:  K & L Week, Abraham Lincoln, Library, Kings

February 7th & 8th:  Valentines brought to school 

Week of February 13th to 15th:  I & J Week, Valentine's Day, Ice Cream, Jelly Beans

February 14th:  Valentine's Day Party and Card Exchange

Week of February 20th to 22nd:  M & N Week, Mice, George Washington

Week of February 27th to March 1st:  O & P Week, Pigs, Post Office, Tornadoes

We will be studying about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.  Your child should know many interesting facts about them by the end of the month.

On Wednesday, February 14^th, we will have a Valentine’s Day Party and Valentine Day Card Exchange.  We will be making Valentine’s Delivery Trucks for our valentine cards.  Please do not put any other children’s names on the card’s outside or envelopes.  Each child sends one to everyone in the class, but they just sign their own names on the back of the cards.  There are currently 16 in the class.  The cards should be brought February 7^th and 8^th.

Will the following children’s mothers please send a special snack for our Valentine Party:  Lillie Holmes, Amelia McDowell, and Sadie Myers.

We will be evaluating the students that will be entering kindergarten next year beginning the week of March 6^th.

REMINDER:  If the North Lawrence schools are called off because of the weather, we will also be called off.  Also, if there is a two-hour delay class will be from 10:00-1:00.  Daycare will still be open regular hours those days.

If we miss 1 school day because of weather, you still need to pay for that day.  If we miss 2 or 3 days of any one week, you only pay for 1 day missed that week.

Hat Day Reminder

Just a reminder:  This Thursday, February 1^st, is Hat Day at Sunshine School.  Please send your child to school wearing a hat.

Week of January 3rd to 4th--A & B Week, Begin Positions Unit, Under & On Week, Winter, and All About Me

Week of January 9th to 11th--C & D Week, In & Between Week, Dentist, All About Me, Martin Luther King, and Winter

Week of January 16th to 18th--E & F Week, Beside & Behind Week, Eskimos, Friends, and Winter

Week of January 23rd to 25th--G & H Week, Positions Review, Groundhogs, Hats, and Winter

We will begin going through the alphabet again.  This time we will work on objects beginning with each letter, color pictures, and write the letters.

This month we are also working on a unit called “All About Me”; positions; writing their names; and learning to tie their shoes, addresses, phone numbers, and birthdays.
